CHICAGO, IL (July 11) - Hardly a week goes by that we do not receive a
few comments from readers on stories published as part of the Covenant
online news report.
We will share from time to time some of those responses generated
through the "comments" link attached to each published story. This kind
of feedback is very helpful to our Covenant News Service staff as we
seek to identify and publish stories of great interest to a broad
spectrum of online readers of this report.
Following are comments relating to recently published stories, edited in
some cases for length. To read a particular story of interest, click on

Kathy
Holmgren to Appear on National Radio
Marilyn E. Moore of Somerville, MA, writes: I was so disappointed
to find no station in the Boston, MA, area carrying the Grace Matters
program. It is only available in Pittsfield, MA, in the western part of
the state. We still pray for Kathy and Calla and their selfless decision
to serve Him first.
'Click for
CHIC' Raising Funds for Impoverished Sudanese
Linda Forbes of Chicago, IL, writes: Wow! This is really cool! I
copied and forwarded this to my contacts.
'World Cup
Bigger Than Super Bowl,' Missionaries Discover
Glenn Heikes of Lindsborg, KS, writes: I have to take this
opportunity to say that the comment "sharing the Gospel is a much longer
process" expresses my feelings on the value of these very short
"mission" experiences. I realize that there may someday be someone who
will consider career missions. If someday there is someone "called," let
him/her get up and go. "Lord, here I am, send me" - remember that call?
Many have received the call, but have not responded in this way - "Here
I am, send me!" We don't have to see a lot of previews to get involved
in the main event.
VBS
Program: Adults Need Not Apply
Johnna Hayward of Chicago, IL, writes: How encouraging to hear
about the fruitfulness of getting kids involved in leadership. Way to
go, Jen - you are a great example of a pastor as "one who empowers and
enables others" to serve God using their gifts!
Swedish
Musical Tells Story of Immigration
Lilly Setterdahl of East Moline, IL, writes: The performance in
Moline can be described with one word - Fantastic! It is the best
Swedish American program that I have ever seen - everyone in the
audience enjoyed it tremendously. Descendants were present. We had a
full house, and everyone enjoyed the show. I would like to thank the
group for coming here and Pastor Surey, himself a Swedish descendant,
for his enthusiastic support of the event. We are only sorry to hear
that the Bjurtjarn Theatre Group will not return with "They Sold Their
Homes." But, thank you for including us this last time.

Friends Use
Website to Eulogize Antwan Williams
Katie Beavers from Illinois writes: Antwan, you were always my
favorite male counselor at Covanant Harbor. I wasn't gonna go to camp
this year, but after hearing this, I really want to. I really wish you
could have been here this year. Rest in peace. I miss you.
Ten
Commandments Engraved on Stone - Again
James Singleton of Hugheston, WV, writes: I would like to know
the name of the company who did the engraving on this stone. We would
like to have the Ten Commandments engraved on a stone to place outside
of our church. If Pastor White of Christ Community Church or anyone else
can help us with this information, I would appreciate it.
Singles
Ministry: 'We Can Do More Together'
Richard Goodson of Ceres, CA, writes: I am part of the singles
leadership team and I am seeking fresh ideas. Ideas are welcomed.
Covenant
Sudanese Refugee Stabbed in Gang Attack
Denise Sangster of Chicago, IL, writes: I was upset to see young
men who have been through so much tragedy, come to America and still
have to flee for their lives. Are refugees still coming from Africa?
Is the crisis in Sudan still as great, or are the people beginning to
restore their nation?
