CRC Announces Scholarship Recipients
CHICAGO, IL (July 6) - Covenant Retirement Communities (CRC) has awarded
six post-high school scholarships totaling $10,000 to dependents of its
employees, part of an ongoing commitment to help dependents pursue
higher education.
Winners of this year's scholarships are:
- Danielle Leitner, daughter of Donna Leitner, activities assistant at
The Holmstad in Batavia, Illinois; awarded $2,500 to attend Illinois
State University to study elementary education.
- Marcus Estrella, son of Amelita Estrella, a registered nurse at
Covenant Village of Northbrook in Northbrook, Illinois; awarded $2,500
to attend Marquette University to study engineering.
- Emelie Ness, daughter of Diane Ness, a marketing assistant at
Covenant Village of the Great Lakes in Grand Rapids, Michigan; awarded
$1,750 to attend Grand Valley State University, Allendale, Michigan, to
study social work or recreational therapy.
- Luam Sebhatu, son of Abrehct Gebray, a caregiver at Irvington
Village in Portland, Oregon; awarded $1,250 to attend the University of
Oregon to study biology.
- Cayla Wysocki, daughter of Connie Wysocki, a registered nurse at
Covenant Village of the Great Lakes in Grand Rapids, Michigan; awarded
$1,000 to attend Grand Rapids Community College to study education,
Spanish and missions.
- Angelo Dunlao, son of Yolanda Dunlao, a licensed practical nurse at
Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream, Illinois; awarded $1,000 to attend
the College of DuPage to study nursing.
A selection committee received 36 applications nationwide and based
awards on educational and career pursuits consistent with CRC values, an
essay demonstrating a defined educational/career goal, and the student's
involvement in extracurricular activities.
Scholarships are generated from earnings from an endowed scholarship
fund and other generous sources within Covenant Retirement Communities.
One of the nation's largest not-for-profit retirement community
organizations, Covenant Retirement Communities administers 14 retirement
communities nationwide on behalf of the Board of Benevolence of the
Evangelical Covenant Church.
