President's Office Seeks Administrative Assistant

CHICAGO, IL (June 30) - Applications are being accepted for the position as administrative assistant to the president of the Evangelical Covenant Church.

This position, which will start in July or August, reports to the president and provides high-level administrative support, performing various clerical functions and otherwise assisting the president of the denomination.

Responsibilities include conducting research; compiling and typing statistical reports; coordinating and arranging meetings; recording and transcribing minutes of meetings; assisting in effectively managing the relationship networks of the office of the president; participating in project planning and implementation of key initiatives; coordinating the president's daily and long-range schedule and arranging meetings, speaking engagements, and all other official functions; arranging and coordinating travel schedules; preparing detailed itineraries and schedule of activities; answering and screening the president's telephone calls, and arranging conference calls; composing and typing routine as well as complex and sensitive correspondence; and other additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree (B. A.) or equivalent from a four-year college (preferred), one to two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate intermediate to advanced-level skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, as well as Internet and email systems.

This individual must maintain the strictest level of confidentiality and discretion; reflect a knowledge of and maintain a high level of cooperation with other Covenant departments, institutions and constituencies; maintain a high level of loyalty to the work of the Covenant, the president's office and the president; reflect a high level of customer service; and demonstrate the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and a high quality of presentation in all correspondence and reports.

The individual must have a deep commitment to Christ and the mission of the Evangelical Covenant Church. The person must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, and the ability to handle a variety of tasks and responsibilities in a professional and prompt manner. The individual must have the ability to work with limited direction, take initiative, and have the ability to plan and carry out responsibilities with limited supervision. Good judgment is necessary. The individual must be courteous and relate well to internal and external customers. The person must be tactful and possess highly developed communication skills (written and verbal, English) and be able to communicate effectively with staff and others with whom this position has contact.
