Benefits Clerk Position Open at Covenant Offices
CHICAGO, IL (June 26) - Applications are being accepted for a position as benefits clerk in the offices of the Evangelical Covenant Church.It is hoped the new individual can begin work in mid-July. The position reports to the financial manager of pension and insurance in the Bethany Benefits department.
Responsibilities include distributing and explaining information on benefits programs; investigating and resolving questions regarding delivery and payment for services; verifying and completing benefits enrollment forms; reviewing reports from plan providers to verify accuracy and resolve differences; entering benefits-related data into computerized systems; maintaining files of enrollment forms and other documentation; sending enrollment, termination and payment information to benefit plan providers and other plan administrators; calculating and submitting employee paycheck deductions for benefits; producing reports of benefit enrollment and termination, benefit deductions, and plan participation; and processing HIPPA certificates and Certificates of Creditable Coverage.
Qualifications include a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); three to six months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate also will demonstrate a familiarity with database systems or the ability to learn a system quickly, as well as accurate word and data processing skills. Previous data entry and customer service experience is preferred. The ability to speak and write in Spanish is desired, but not necessary.
The individual also must have a commitment to the mission of the Evangelical Covenant Church and the purposes of the Bethany Benefits department, as well as excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, and the ability to handle a variety of tasks and responsibilities in a professional and prompt manner. The individual must have the ability to work with limited direction, take initiative, and organize the work schedule and manage the duties in order to complete responsibilities. The position demands accuracy and the ability to maintain confidentiality. Good judgment is necessary.
