Churches removed include:
The Crossing Covenant Church in Thornton was a pioneer church plant that
began in a north Denver suburb in 2002. As the appropriation phase was
ending, the church leadership concluded that financial support was not
sufficient to continue. The church was enfolded into the Colorado Ridge
Covenant Church in Westminster. The Crossing's founding pastor, Jeff
Grote, became part of the Colorado Ridge staff.
The Evangelical Covenant Church in Fort Collins birthed Spring Valley in
Windsor as a parented project in 1999. After the founding pastor left
ministry, attendance eroded despite the efforts of a new pastor. Most of
the 50 remaining attendees now attend the Fort Collins congregation.
Marquette Covenant Church joined the Covenant in 1901. In recent years
it has declined in strength. The Midwest Conference declined requests
for financial assistance for a restart without leadership being granted
to a new leadership team. The church decided to leave the Covenant and
join another denomination that offered financial assistance.
First Covenant Church joined the Covenant in 1887 and is the historic
mother and grandmother of all the Covenant churches in the Kansas City
area. Much of its strength was sacrificed in the birthing of its largest
child, Hillcrest Covenant Church of Prairie Village, Kansas, in 1961.
The church was unable to keep pace with the demographic changes in its
locale and invited a multicultural church plant into its facilities in
2002. The plant, City Church, joined the Covenant at the 2005 Annual
Meeting. Several last-minute details prevented First Covenant's ministry
from being celebrated and closed at that time.
Riversong was planted in 2004 but never met growth requirements and was
closed.
Iglesia Del Pacto Evangelico Elgin still was in the pre-fellowship stage
when it was integrated into a larger congregation.
Oakgrove Covenant was formed in 1997 and had a peak membership of
approximately 100. With average attendance at 57, it was determined the
church should be closed.
Dayton Ohio joined the Covenant in 1947. It has decided to withdraw from
the Covenant.
