Viking Soccer Player Scores Second Conference Honor
NAPERVILLE, IL (November 2, 2005) - For the second time in four weeks, North
Park University's P.J. Eriksson was named College Conference of Illinois
& Wisconsin Men's Soccer Player of the Week for his performances during
the past week of competition.
The sophomore from Sweden scored the first and third goals in North
Park's 3-0 victory over Elmhurst, which earned North Park the No. 1 seed
in the CCIW Men's Soccer Tournament. On Saturday, in a non-conference
match-up with Lake Forest, he scored the first goal and assisted on the
second as North Park went on to win 2-0. It was the Vikings' fourth
straight win and improved their record to 5-1-1 in the conference and
9-6-1 overall.
Eriksson's recognition marks the fourth straight week that a Viking
athlete - all soccer players - was named Player of the Week. Elvis Fikic
and Abbie Frank earned the recognition in previous weeks. Viking punter
Brandon Watts was named football Special Teams Player of the Week in
September.
The Viking soccer team plays its first match of the tournament against
Carthage at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Holmgren Athletic Complex.
