Florida Churches Report Power Outages

OVIEDO, FL (October 24, 2005) - Many Covenant pastors are reporting power outages as Hurricane Wilma slams through Florida coastal areas with winds in excess of 100 miles per hour, reports Kurt Miericke, superintendent of the Southeast Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church.

All Covenant churches in the West Palm Beach area are reporting power outages, as is Covenant Village in Plantation. Miericke says he has not heard yet from any of the mobile home park churches located along the Gulf Coast. Pastors are expected to call Miericke this evening with reports of any damage and needs. Last year, three hurricanes affected at least several Covenant congregations.

More information will be posted to this online Covenant news report as it becomes available.
