Candidates Sought for North Park Seminary Positions

CHICAGO, IL (September 15, 2005) - Applications are being accepted for two full-time tenure or tenure track positions at North Park Theological Seminary, one in New Testament and one in Theology/History.

The positions, which will start next fall (2006), involve teaching both core and elective courses in the seminary's Master of Divinity and Master of Arts programs, according to Dr. Stephen R. Graham, dean of faculty and academic life.

Requirements for the New Testament position include a Ph.D. in some aspect of New Testament studies with demonstrated evidence of superior teaching ability in more than one sub-discipline of the New Testament and related disciplines.

Requirements for the Theology/History position include a Ph. D. or equivalent in theology, ethics, history or liturgy with demonstrated evidence of superior teaching ability in this discipline. In addition, the candidate will have a proven ability to teach introductory courses in another of these disciplines.

General qualifications for both positions include a commitment to work with a strong program of ministerial formation, including care for students; competence in teaching, including the desire and ability to integrate academic and spiritual formation of candidates for a broad range of ministries; and the ability to engage in research and writing in a collegial setting. Compatibility with the theology and ethos of the Evangelical Covenant Church is essential. Pastoral experience and ordination also are desirable.
