$450 - Now That's a Lot of Melons
EVERETT, WA (August 10, 2005) - Under the banner of "Melons for Missions," the Lake Stevens Covenant Church recently raised more than $450 for Covenant World Relief (CWR) at a local festival by selling watermelon slices for 25 cents a piece.
The church had a booth at the community's annual Aquafest. In addition
to selling watermelon, the church distributed CWR literature,
information about the church and its ministries, New Testaments,
devotionals and free CDs containing sermons.
"One middle-aged gentleman stopped by and asked if this was the same Covenant church that was in Chicago, and then shared that he became a Christian when he attended CHIC (Covenant High In Christ event)," says Lenore Three Stars.
