North Park Seeks New Communications Director

CHICAGO, IL (June 28, 2005) - Applications are being accepted for a position as director of communications at North Park University, a full-time position that reports to the senior vice president.

This position is responsible for marketing, public information, publications, and coordinating institutional advertising; assists with events and projects to support strategic initiatives; and provides public relations counsel to the president and the Cabinet. More specifically, the position consults and advises on the marketing of the institution through advertising, media relations, web design, events, and publications to a variety of public institutions, initiates marketing and communications strategies in coordination with the Institutional Strategic Plan developed by the president and the marketing plan developed by the senior vice president, and oversees editorial content of public materials and provides creative, design, and print services to meet institutional standards of excellence.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in a related field and experience managing public relations and publications; thorough knowledge and expertise in media relations, advertising, event planning, and writing and design; experience in an academic setting; excellent grammar and strong editing, writing and proofreading skills; an orientation to detail and accuracy; effective interpersonal skills; computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; an ability to maintain confidentiality; and a personal commitment to North Park's mission of Christian higher education.
