Events Serve as Bridge-Building Opportunities
ALLISON PARK, PA (June 1, 2005) - More than two hundred runners between the ages of four and 73 participated in the Memorial Day run sponsored by Stoneridge Covenant Church.
The sixth annual run encompassed distances of 5K and 10K, says Pastor
John DeLancey, who has been a long-time runner. DeLancey suggested the
idea of the run after becoming the church's pastor.
Participants under age 12 as well as winners in different classes each received a trophy. Local businesses helped sponsor the event. "It's great for bridge building in the community," says DeLancey. "It was a lot of fun. It's a family event."
The run is one of several church-sponsored events, including movie nights that are offered free of charge. "We want to be seen as a church that will do things for the community with no strings attached," DeLancey says.
