Alaska Christian College Receives "Miracle" Gift

SOLDOTNA, AK (April 14, 2005) - A miraculous donation surprised administrators at Alaska Christian College and has led to another challenge, says Keith Hamilton, the college's president.

Library furniture worth nearly $40,000 has been donated to the college after a recent appeal for donations to help extend the library, as part of the accreditation process. The offering came the same day as the college posted the appeal.

No one would have guessed what the source of the donations would be: The University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. The donation was made possible by Dale Gustafson, a librarian at the school who attends Community Covenant Church in Shawnee, Kansas. The donation includes bookshelves, study carrels, chairs, tables, computer tables and other items.

The next challenge is getting the furniture to ACC's campus in Soldotna, which will involve shipping it by rail from Kansas City to Tacoma, Wash., by barge to Anchorage, and then on to Soldatna.
