Dream Prompts 7 Year Old to Raise $760 for Tsunami Victims

KANE, PA (April 14, 2005) - The night before Ash Wednesday, seven-year-old, Clayton Colson had a dream. He dreamed that God told him to have a bake sale to raise money for the tsunami victims. After the Ash Wednesday service on February 9, he told his pastor at Emmanuel Mission Covenant Church, Becky Erickson, about his dream. She asked what she could do to help.

 "Tell everybody, so they can bring their money," was his thoughtful and practical reply.

The following week, Clayton and his mom, Rose Colson, baked. On February 20, the congregation gathered for a soup and sandwich lunch after church. Everyone bought their dessert from Clayton and his brothers, Avery and Bailey. They raised $85.

The family asked the pastor to hold the money for a little while as they thought more money would come in. One month later, on March 20 the congregation gathered once again for soup and sandwiches. The money that had been raised, together with the money that the Lord had prompted others to give after hearing about Clayton's dream and his obedience to God, was presented to Clayton and his family. Over one month's time it had grown from $85 to $760.

At Clayton's request a check for $380 was sent to Samaritan's Purse and the remaining $380 was sent to Covenant World Relief
