BRANDON, SD (March 31, 2005) - Living Springs Covenant Church is completing phase one of a multi-phase building project with hopes of moving into the new facility later this spring.Phase one of the facility will cost $1.8 million. It will include a multipurpose space to serve as a gym and as a sanctuary seating up to 425 people, according to pastor Mike Brown. Other amenities include a gathering area (narthex) and entry way, along with office space for administrative staff and pastoral leadership, six educational classrooms and a nursery, kitchen and youth room.
In the future, the church hopes to add an educational wing (phase two) and a dedicated sanctuary (phase three). Construction for phase one of the project began last September, Brown added. The cost of the project is being funded through National Covenant Properties.
Living Springs Covenant Church is located in a community of 7,500 people just east of Sioux Falls in the southeastern part of the state. It celebrated its fifth anniversary in January.
Brown is the founding pastor of the congregation, which averages about 200 in worship attendance. More than half of those at the church did not previously attend church. Sports ministries have been a recent outreach tool and the congregation has increased its youth ministries program during the past year with a new staff position.
