April Workshop to Focus on Domestic Violence

CHICAGO, IL (March 21, 2005) - A workshop on domestic violence will be conducted on Saturday, April 2, at North Park Theological Seminary, presented by the Center for Justice Ministries.

The workshop, which will focus on prevention, skills and awareness, will be conducted by Aleese Moore-Orbih, project manager for the Assistance to Victims of Abuse program that is part of Women Ministries of the Evangelical Covenant Church. The workshop will begin at 9 a.m. and continue until 3 p.m. in Room N-25 of Nyvall Hall on the seminary campus.

"Most of us believe that domestic violence, teen dating violence and sexual abuse of children doesn't happen in the families of our congregations," says Moore-Orbih. "Violence against women and children happens everywhere. It crosses all racial, social, educational, economic and religious lines."

Workshop registrations must be received no later than April 1. The workshop fee of $5 includes lunch. To register for the workshop, email Jeanine Brown, coordinator of the Center for Justice Ministries, at jbrown@northpark.edu or call her at 773 244-6220.
