La Viña Features Band in Opening Service
KERMAN, CA (March 16, 2005) - More than 240 people attended the La Viña
Covenant Church grand opening worship service recently.
Michael Jordan, La Viña's pastor, opened the February 13 service with a
brief history of the church's formation and a look to their future.
Special quests included Kerman Unified School District Supt. Roger
Halberg and Kerman City Council member Chris Cromartie.
Joseph Cabanilla and his band added excitement to the opening with
special music for the occasion. Just the night before, Cabanilla
received an award for "Regional Album of the Year" presented by "Radio
Nueva Vida Nuestra Musica Awards" in Los Angeles. In addition to his
music, Joseph shared his incredible testimony. "This was a miracle to
get him to come," Jordan said. "He is very well known and growing in
popularity."
A week later, La Viña sponsored a follow-up dinner, inviting visitors
who attended their grand opening. More than 140 attended the dinner with
many responding to an invitation to give their lives to Christ. The
response within the La Viña congregation has been dramatic and exciting
with four baptisms performed on March 6 and an increase in Sunday
attendance of approximately 30 percent.
