Service Pending for Pastor Al H. Johnson
LITTLETON, CO (March 11, 2005) - A memorial service is pending for retired
pastor Al H. Johnson, 79, who died Thursday. Burial will be in California.
Johnson was the former director of educational planning and special
services in the former Department of Christian Education. He also was
the director of Christian education of the Pacific Southwest Conference.
He served as pastor at St. John's Covenant Church in Portland, Oregon;
Wiley Covenant Church in Yakima, Washington; Dearborn Covenant Church in
Dearborn, Michigan; Berkeley Covenant Church in Berkeley, California;
and Hope Center Covenant Church in Pleasant Hill, California.
Johnson received a Bachelor in Theology degree from Central Bible
College and a Bachelor of Arts degree in speech and political science
from Seattle Pacific University. He graduated from North Park
Theological Seminary in 1953 and was ordained in 1957.
He is survived by four children. His wife, Lorraine, preceded him in death.
