Applicants Sought for University Presidency
CHICAGO, IL (February 21, 2005) - Applications are being accepted for the position of president at North Park University, continuing a search process that began shortly after the resignation of David G. Horner late last year.A professional search firm has been engaged to guide the search process with an interim governance structure already in place.
North Park University, located on a 30-acre site on the north side of Chicago, is a Christian liberal arts university founded in 1891 by the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC), whose headquarters is within walking distance. North Park's mission is "to prepare students for lives of significance and service through liberal arts, professional, and theological education." The university serves approximately 1,800 undergraduate students, more than 500 graduate students and 570 seminarians distributed among the university's main campus, three satellite sites and distance learning and extension locations.
The president serves as the chief executive officer and reports to the Board of Trustees. The next president will be a transformational agent of change who is a committed Christian, a strategic thinker and planner, an experienced and successful fundraiser and someone with senior-level administrative experience who possesses high ethical standards and unquestioned integrity. The opportunities available for such an individual include taking North Park to the next level of academic excellence, instituting a collaborative strategic planning and budgeting process and assisting the university in being a catalyst for community growth.
