Nyvall Lectures to Focus on Justice Themes

CHICAGO, IL (February 14, 2005) - Professor Peter J. Paris will present the Nyvall Lectures at 9 a.m. March 30 in Isaacson Chapel at North Park Theological Seminary. Paris will speak on "Justice for the Excluded." The two individual lectures will focus on criminal justice and economic justice.

Paris' is the Elmer G. Homrighausen Professor of Christian Social Ethics and his book, The Social Teaching of the Black Churches, is often used as a required text at seminaries. He also is an ordained Baptist minister and serves on the Princeton Affordable Housing Commission.

He is president of the Society for the Study of Black Religion and vice president of the Society for Values in Higher Education. Paris also is past president of the American Academy of Religion and the Society of Christian Ethics.
