North Park Dedicates New Addition
CHICAGO, IL (February 11, 2005) - North Park Covenant Church recently celebrated the completion of its new addition with a service of celebration and dedication January 23.The expanded space includes a new youth room, new multipurpose classroom and lounge and a handicapped accessible elevator connecting all three levels. A new playground, the first in the church's history, also is featured as part of the new addition.
To make room for the addition, the church razed two building purchased in the 1970s. Church leaders also were determined to use "green" architecture, which strives to construct buildings that are more environmentally friendly, consuming less energy and using non-hazardous, renewable materials.
Retired senior pastor Arthur Nelson offered the prayer of dedication and senior pastor Doug Johnson read from the dedication program for the church's education building in 1962 as part of the dedication service.
