World Mission to Honor Life of Viola Larson
NORTHBROOK, IL (January 26, 2005) - The Department of World Mission of the Evangelical Covenant Church will honor the life of longtime Covenant missionary Viola Larson, 94, with a memorial service in February.The service will begin at 3 p.m. February 10 in the Engebretson Chapel at the Brandel Care Center on the campus of Covenant Village of Northbrook. World Mission Executive Minister Curt Peterson and former Executive Minister Ray Dahlberg will participate in the service.
A graduate of North Park College in 1935, Larson served in China from 1935 to 1940 and again from 1946 to 1951, when she also served in Hong Kong. During World War II, she served in the mountains of Virginia as part of the Home Missions project. Later, from 1953 to 1960, she served in Taiwan.
