Christian Camping Group Changes Name

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. (January 20, 2005) - Christian Camping International/USA (CCI/USA) has changed its name and going forward will be known as Christian Camp and Conference Association (CCCA), a change that reflects the organization's desire to more clearly communicate its twofold mission.

Several camps of the Evangelical Covenant Church belong to the association. Camp executive directors David Auker of Covenant Harbor Bible Camp in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, and Stan White of Alpine Camp and Conference Center in Blue Jay, California, are past presidents of the organization.

For years the association has had a stated purpose to "equip Christian camp and conference leaders by providing ongoing encouragement, professional training and timely resources." More recently, it has identified the importance of proclaiming the power of the Christian camp and conference experience and interpreting its benefits. One major step in this direction was to eliminate the often-misleading word "camping" from its name.

Some 1,100 camps and conference centers are members of Christian Camp and Conference Association, a not-for-profit association incorporated in 1963. To learn more about this organization and its ministry services, visit www.christiancampandconference.org.
