Christopher Concerts to Raise Congo Funds
WALNUT CREEK, CA (January 12, 2005) - Recording artist Brant Christopher will perform concerts at Hillside and Turlock Covenant churches in California this weekend to help build support for the outreach ministries of the Paul Carlson Partnership, especially the Congo initiatives. The first concert will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Hillside Covenant Church in Walnut Creek. The second concert will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Cornerstone Covenant Church in Turlock. The concerts are the beginning of a Healing Hands tour that Christopher plans to extend throughout this year. The concerts will include the showing of an abbreviated version of the Monganga Paul documentary released last year. The film tells the story of Dr. Paul Carlson, the Covenant medical missionary to Congo who was killed by Congo rebels in November 1964. This past November marked the 40th anniversary of Carlson's death.
Those attending the concerts will be offered an opportunity to join the "Healing Hands Partners" program, pledging support of $20 a month for the outreach work taking place in northwestern Congo where the ECC, in partnership with the Congo Covenant Church (CEUM), has ministered for decades. Those joining the new partners program will receive Christopher's latest CD release, Circus Life, featuring a special song - "With His Hands" - written in tribute to the memory of Dr. Paul Carlson. A free-will offering will be taken at the concert to assist in defraying expenses.
The folk rock singer has performed at Greenbelt, the largest Christian music festival in England, and shared the stage with Jars of Clay and the Newsboys. To read a more complete background on the performer, please see Brant Christopher.
