Bokonzo: Visit to Health Clinic

GEMENA, CONGO (November 29, 2004) - A visit to the Bokonzo Health Clinic in Gemena shows much progress being made, including a new building, though much work remains to be done. Here are snapshots of that visit, which coincided with the delegation's tour of the Congo Covenant Church (CEUM) headquarters.

Baby Treated in New Health Center The new, uncompleted health center building is already being used to administer an IV to a baby. Caregivers said they just needed the extra space for this patient.

Looking Through the Window A nurse assistant in the middle and two ladies with their babies view their visitors through the window of the new health center.
This photo shows the birthing room in the old health center. One can see the dirt floor, as clean as it can get, and that there is no ceiling. Old Clinic Birthing Room
