Fair Trade Bazaar Set for November 13
CHICAGO, IL (October 26, 2004) - A November international fair trade bazaar featuring goods from Chicago and countries around the world will raise funds to benefit the ministries of the North Park Friendship Center, which is supported by a number of Evangelical Covenant churches in the city."Gifts That Make a Difference" will take place from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 13, at Edgebrook Covenant Church, 6355 N. Spokane Avenue in Chicago. A portion of the sales proceeds is returned to the craftspersons with profits used for the friendship center, a not-for-profit organization that helps feed and clothe needy residents of Chicago's North side.
Items to be offered for sale come from a number of fair trade groups, interfaith handicraft alliances, Covenant missionary groups and social justice organizations representing goods from Thailand, Mexico, Colombia and Ghana. Items include handmade bags, Christmas ornaments, jewelry, candles, fair trade coffee and chocolate.
