Christmas Musical Opens December 1 in Sacramento
SACRAMENTO, CA (October 26, 2004) - A Christmas musical that promises to
provide enjoyment for the entire family will be presented in December by
First Covenant Church of Sacramento at the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium.
An Evening in December is a Broadway-style Christmas musical
extravaganza that will play to audiences December 1 through December 5.
The show features new and traditional Christmas music performed by a
cast of more than 200 singers, actors and dancers. The show attracted
more than 17,000 attendees in 2003 (see accompanying photo) and is
billed as Sacramento's newest Christmas tradition.
Set during the holiday season at the 1904 St. Louis World Exposition,
this year's show is sprinkled with humor and references to classic
American innovations that were popularized at the World's Fair -
including ice cream cones, iced tea and just about any food on a stick.
"We are excited to present the 13th annual production of An Evening
in December," says John Plastow, the show's writer and producer.
"It's a wonderful way to start the holiday season, and we enjoy helping
people get in the holiday spirit by reminding them of the hope and joy
of Christmas."
An Evening in December will be performed at 7 p.m. on December
1-3, at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on December 4, and at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on
December 5. Tickets range in price from $5-$8 and are on sale through
First Covenant Church by calling the church office at 916-861-1626, the
Community Center Box Office at 916-264-5181 or by visiting
