Author to Sign Copies of KICY Book on Saturday

CHICAGO, IL (October 19, 2004) - Well-known Covenanter and author Greg Asimakoupoulos will be on hand at Covenant Bookstore from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, October 23, to sign copies of his book Ptarmigan Telegraph – The Story of Radio Station KICY.

The book draws its name from Ptarmigan (pronounced tarmigan) Telegraph, which is a popular program on radio station KICY in Nome, Alaska. Listeners call or write in messages for friends and relatives and the brief messages are then read on the air, providing one vital means of connecting the people of Western Alaska.

The book tells the story of how the vision of a handful of people became reality and how a small radio station in Alaska has connected people not only to each other, but to the gospel message as well.

Asimakoupoulos is an ordained Evangelical Covenant Church pastor who has written eight books and is a frequent contributor to a number of Christian periodicals, including The Covenant Companion. He and his wife, Wendy, volunteered at KICY in 1987 and currently reside in Naperville.

To read more about the book and radio station KICY, please see an earlier story published in this online Covenant news report at KICY.
