Faith Covenant (FL) Dedicates Expanded Facility
ST. PETERSBURG, FL (October 15, 2004) - Faith Covenant Church dedicated its expanded and remodeled facilities last Sunday night (October 10) with Southeast Conference Associate Supt. Robert Owens and his wife, Mary Ann, among the honored guests.Faith Covenant's founding pastor Don Logue and his wife, Peggy, were also at the event, which culminated a building project that has taken seven months to complete. The church had to vacate the facility for three weeks during the summer but most activities were still functioning on site during the seven months of construction, said pastor Jeff Burton.
The church ran a slideshow documenting the construction process and lighted a cross on the outside of the building. The cross had been installed on Thursday – it is 12 feet long and eight feet wide and includes the logo for the Evangelical Covenant Church at the crossing points. The church's building committee and a local sign company created the design. Owens led the church in a dedication prayer.
Faith Covenant has been in existence for more than 26 years, said Burton. It averages 335 in worship attendance (two services). Already, the newly constructed facility has been a blessing to at least one other Covenant congregation.
A congregation in Vero Beach, under pastor Tristan Hohler, had a number of parishioners stay at Faith Covenant for six days when their church building was damaged by recent hurricanes. Most of those in and around Vero Beach had been forced to evacuate the area. In an ironic twist, Faith Covenant was forced to cancel church services because the city was in a hurricane watch; however, the Vero Beach group already inside the church was able to use the facility for its own worship service.
