Covenant Pastor Wins Amy Writing Award
LANSING, MI (October 13, 2004) - Rick Lindholtz, an ordained Covenant pastor now serving a Lutheran church in Kingwood, Texas, received $3,000 for finishing fourth in a writing contest sponsored by the nationally known Amy Foundation.Lindholtz submitted 10 sermon outlines pertaining to "A Christ-Centered, Disciple-Making Church." The foundation invited pastors to write a series of sermon outlines on specific themes related to the topic of making disciples.
The Amy Foundation gave awards totaling $30,000 to 15 winners. First prize of $10,000 went to John Mosqueda of Las Vegas Bible Church in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Amy Foundation is perhaps best known for sponsoring the annual Amy Writing Awards, one of the larger cash prizes in the field of journalism. It exists to encourage the publication of columns and articles that present biblical truth in the secular media. The foundation was started by Jim Russell of Bretton Woods Covenant Church in Lansing, whose family wanted to honor a developmentally disabled daughter.
