New Date, Location for 2005 SE Conference Meeting
OVIEDO, FL (October 11, 2004) - The dates and location for the Southeast Conference Annual Meeting next spring have been changed in the aftermath of hurricanes that severely damaged the originally intended location, reports Supt. Kurt Miericke.Plans originally called for the meeting to take place at an oceanfront hotel in Vero Beach, but due to the severity of the storm damage from Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne, Vero Beach has been rescheduled to host the April 2006 conference meeting.
This coming spring's conference annual meeting will be held one week later than originally planned – April 28-30 – in Natchez, Mississippi, Miericke notes. "We will be hosted by Oscar and Evelyn Davis and the Greater Faith Tabernacle Covenant Church," the superintendent says, with more detailed information to be distributed in the near future.
"The Southeast continues to recover from four hurricanes that came our way over a six-week period," Miericke says in an update to his storm damage reports. "First Covenant Church in Vero Beach and the Royal Palm Covenant Church in Royal Palm Beach have extensive damage. They also have high deductibles on their insurance, which makes things more difficult." Miericke encourages churches to consider donating work teams and contributions to the hurricane relief effort.
