ABC-TV to Feature Covenanters in Sunday SpecialPENNGROVE, CA (October 6, 2004) - Parishioners at Redwood Covenant Church are among many volunteers who are featured in an "Extreme Makeover Home Edition" construction project that will be featured this Sunday on ABC-TV. The programs airs at 8 p.m. Eastern, 7 p.m. Central Daylight Time. In July, a large work crew demolished the 1,450-square-foot home belonging to Matt and Caroline Pope and their children, Shelby and Madison, and rebuilt an even larger house in its place and all within an amazing five and one-half days. Shelby suffers from a rare sun allergy that keeps her inside nearly all of the time. The new house is especially designed to allow Shelby to enjoy her living space by protecting her from direct sunlight. Of the 16 makeovers ABC-TV has completed, this project is the largest, costing some $1.5 million. Many people from the church were tapped as subcontractors for the job - all of the labor was donated. A story published in this online Covenant news report in July provided more detail on how this project originated and the work that was completed.
