Applicants Sought for Warehouse Supervisory Position
CHICAGO, IL (September 22, 2004) - Applications are being accepted for a full-time position as warehouse supervisor at Covenant Bookstore, located across Foster Avenue from the main campus of North Park University.The position, which will be available in mid-October, reports to the bookstore manager, supervises warehouse clerks and works closely with sales clerks on various tasks related to their respective areas of responsibility.
Responsibilities include organization of space in stockroom, warehouse and related storage areas; making certain warehouse is kept in an orderly and maintained condition; recommending remedial actions for obsolete and surplus stock; reviewing shipping records and invoices for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures; and determining appropriate inventory levels in appropriate areas. This position devises certain work procedures, trains and supervises the work of those reporting to this position and performs other duties as assigned.
The successful applicant will be familiar with computerized inventory systems and possess some prior warehouse and supervisory experience. This individual must have excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to handle a variety of tasks and responsibilities in a professional and prompt manner, working with limited direction, taking initiative and demonstrating creative problem-solving skills. The position demands accuracy and the ability to maintain confidentiality. The individual must be courteous and relate well to internal and external customers. The person must be tactful and possess highly developed communication skills (written and verbal, English) and be able to communicate effectively with staff and others with whom this position has contact.
The majority of time is spent in a warehouse setting. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and possess the physical ability to use the telephone, computer terminal, Pitney Bowes meter, UPS computer software, IBID inventory system and other related office equipment.
The successful candidate will have an Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, at least two years of experience working in a warehouse environment and at least one year of supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
