Minor League Covenanter on 'Hot-Hitting' List

ALTOONA, PA (September 14, 2004) - Nate McLouth of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Whitehall has continued his hot hitting in minor league professional baseball, helping the Altoona Curve to the Eastern League championship series finals this week.

A fourth year minor league player in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization, McLouth led his Class AA league in three categories and placed in the top 10 in four others. He hit .322 during the regular season, fourth in the league, and led the league with 166 hits and 93 runs scored, along with 40 doubles. His 31 stolen bases were good for fifth overall and he was eighth in on-base percentage (.384) and tied for ninth in extra-base hits (52).

Last week he started the playoffs on a positive note too, hitting a 3-run homer and a RBI single in his team's playoff series opening win against Erie on Thursday. On Friday he contributed two hits and a run batted in during another Altoona victory. In the final game of the first round, a 14-4 win, McLouth had two more hits.
