Candidates Sought for Textbook Buyer Position

This full-time position receives and processes orders for textbooks for university students as well as certain other related bookstore products as directed by the bookstore manager, to whom this position reports.

Responsibilities also include effectively communicating with university professors and other university personnel, providing quality customer support and conducting point-of-sale transactions. The position assists in effectively merchandising and maintaining textbook inventory and works closely with sales floor supervisors, the warehouse supervisor and other store clerks in the store located at 3200 W. Foster Avenue in Chicago.

Qualifications include excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle details accurately and efficiently. Qualified candidates should have experience working in a retail environment, be familiar with computerized inventory systems and have some prior retail purchasing experience. The successful applicant must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, be capable of lifting light loads (up to 40 pounds) and have the flexibility to work beyond normal business hours when needed. An undergraduate degree is desired, but not required.
