Almighty God, on this day we call 'Good',
We pray to You with great thankfulness;
For on this day our Lord Jesus Christ,
Who was willing to be betrayed,
Who was given into the hands of sinners,
Suffered death upon the cross.
This day of great tragedy,
Brought the greatest good that can be,
This day celebrates Your triumph over the Devil;
For Jesus has died in our stead,
Paying the price of our sins.
We thank You for Your love of the world,
That you would give Your only begotten Son
Into the hands of sinners to be cruelly crucified;
So that whoever believes in Him,
Who now lives and reigns for ever and ever,
Shall not perish but have eternal life.
Amen.
