Oakdale Covenant to Present First Youth Concert

CHICAGO, IL (March 6, 2004) - The Oakdale Covenant Church J.A.M. (Jesus and Me) youth division will present its first concert for youth at 7 p.m. March 12 at the church, located at 9440 S. Vincennes Avenue on Chicago's south side.

The concert will feature the Dillard University Concert Choir, Calumet High School Gospel Choir and a pair of spoken word poetry artists – "Three Brothers with a Mic" and Brenda Matthews.

J.A.M. is a fellowship for youth between the ages of 12-18 led by Oakdale Covenant Church's youth pastor, Bryndan Loritts. The church's youth ministries are active on a number of fronts, both in their local community and in the world.

Thanks to connections made by senior pastor Darrell Griffin, some of Oakdale's high school students are going to South Africa in July to work with a local YMCA and summer camp.

Oakdale Covenant Church, which recently celebrated its 100th anniversary, has an average worship attendance of 924, according to Evangelical Covenant Church statistics. Griffin has served as senior pastor since 2000 after serving New York congregations in Brooklyn and Harlem.
