Gospel Choir on North Pacific Conference Tour

CHICAGO, IL (March 6, 2004) - The North Park University (NPU) Gospel Choir is performing concerts throughout Washington and Oregon beginning this evening (Saturday) as part of a tour of the North Pacific Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church that will conclude March 14.

The schedule of public concerts and locations (all times PST) are as follows:

Saturday, March 6 - At 7 p.m., Missions Conference at Newport Covenant Church, Bellevue, Washington. Call 425-747-0515 for information.

The NPU Gospel Choir, including a 40-member touring ensemble, is one of the most popular music ensembles at the school. The repertoire of the choir is drawn from the great composers of sacred music of the spiritual and gospel genres. The touring ensemble performs at summer conferences such as Covenant High in Christ (CHIC), along with other selected special events at local schools and churches in the Chicagoland area throughout the academic year. The Gospel Choir appears on the school's Worship CD entitled Cry Holy.

Conductor Rollo Dilworth is a member of the faculty of the School of Music, where he serves as an assistant professor of music and director of choral activities. A published composer of choral music, with emphasis in the areas of spirituals and gospel inspired works, Dilworth is in his seventh season as director of the Gospel Choir.
