Covenanter Wrestler Places Second at State Tournament

TACOMA, WA (February 24, 2004) - Nathanael Hicks of Grace Community Covenant Church in Olympia, Washington, placed second in the state high school wrestling 2A finals at the Tacoma Dome Saturday.

Hicks, a senior at Tenino High School, defeated Brad Groce of Medical Lake High School 10-4 in the 145-pound division semifinals before dropping a 7-5 decision to Craig Jackson of Mt. Baker High in the finals. He had entered state competition on a high note, having won the regionals in Elma a week earlier.

It was the third time Hicks had finished in the top five at the state wrestling finals. He placed fourth in the 140-pound weight class in 2003 and was fifth at state in the 125-pound weight class during the 2002 season.
