Minnesota Group Acquires Ebenezer Village
CHICAGO, IL (February 2, 2004) - Elim Care, Inc., a senior services organization based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, has acquired Ebenezer Covenant Village from Chicago-based Covenant Retirement Communities, which is part of the Evangelical Covenant Church.A 65-bed skilled nursing center and 28-unit assisted living residence, Ebenezer Covenant Village also operates a Medicare-certified home care agency called Ebenezer Covenant Home Health.
Under the terms of the agreement, Elim acquired the assets and operations of the nursing center and assisted living residence. It also acquired the operation of the home care agency, which will join its existing home health care affiliate, Guardian Angels-Elim Home Care.
Covenant Retirement Communities President Rick K. Fisk emphasized the mission and ministry compatibility of Elim and Covenant Retirement Communities. "In our efforts to find a viable operational strategy for Ebenezer, we found Elim to be a church-based, mission-driven organization very similar to Covenant Retirement Communities. We are confident that, although some changes will undoubtedly occur, resident care will continue to be exceptional."
Elim Care President Robert Dahl said, "Elim is honored that the Covenant organization has recognized us as a high quality organization with a similar mission. We will continue that heritage of quality for the residents, families and staff of Ebenezer Covenant Village."
The change is ownership was finalized January 30. The name of the campus will change to Lake Ridge Care Center of Buffalo and will be operated as a separate corporation from Park View Care Center. Elim Care owns and operates Park View Care Center and Park Lane Apartments in Buffalo, as well as the Buffalo Adult Day center and Centennial Villa Adult Day Center in Annandale. Elim Care is a not-for-profit organization sponsored by the Evangelical Free Churches.
