Minnehaha Alumnus Honored for Vikings Performance

CHICAGO, IL (November 19, 2003) - Senior defender Jerry Yang, who played high school soccer at Northwest Conference-sponsored Minnehaha Academy, was among five members of North Park University's men's soccer team earning recognition from College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) coaches following the conclusion of the 2003 season.

Yang of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, earned second team mention, along with fellow defender Henrik Wihlborg and goalie Matt Evans. The three were a major factor in the team's seven shutouts this fall. Freshman midfielder Isaac Lee and sophomore midfielder Darryl Payne of Moline, Illinois, were named to the first team on the All-Conference squad. Lee led the Vikings with eight goals and 12 assists and Payne (one goal, two assists) earned All-CCIW honors for the second straight year.

North Park, coached by John Born, posted a 10-4-4 overall record and finished third in conference play. To learn more about North Park's soccer program, call Born at 773-244-5771.
