Santa Lucia Pageant Set for December 6
CHICAGO, IL (November 18, 2003) - North Park University (NPU) will host its annual Santa Lucia pageant at 3 p.m. December 6 in NPU's Anderson Chapel.The Santa Lucia pageant symbolizes the return of light and life to a dark world. During the pageant presentation, a young girl dresses up as Lucia, wearing a white gown with a red sash and crowned with a wreath of candles. The evening also features Christmas carols, the Christmas Gospel reading in English and Swedish, folk tales and special music.
Refreshments will follow the event, which is sponsored by NPU's Swedish Department, the Center for Scandinavian Studies and the Institute for International and Cultural Studies. Admission is free but donations are accepted. For more information, call 773-244-5592.
