Faith Covenant Church Celebrates Twenty-five Years of Ministry

ST. PETERSBURG, FL (October 27, 2003) - Faith Covenant Church celebrated 25 years of ministry with a picnic at the beach on Sunday as six were baptized in the Gulf of Mexico.

Faith Covenant Church began its ministry with a worship service October 1, 1978 and signed its church charter two months later. Don Logue was the founding pastor at the church and he and Rock Doddridge were the lone senior pastors in the congregation's initial 20 years of existence. Faith Covenant is the largest church in the Southeast Conference with an average worship attendance of 340 under pastor Jeff Burton. The church welcomed 21 new members into the congregation on October 5.

The church is also beginning a two-phase building project as a way to better minister to its community and congregation. The original facility was dedicated on February 6, 1983. Groundbreaking is scheduled for December or January with hopes of completing the project by the summer of 2004.

Phase one of the upcoming project includes a new nursery wing on the north side of the building, a new entrance on the west side and a number of interior and exterior modifications, including replacing the roof over administrative offices and the nursery area. A second phase will include a new sanctuary and foyer and classrooms.

For more information on the church, call Burton at 727-525-1699.
