Rockford Teams Fall to Vikings Soccer Prowess
CHICAGO, IL (October 14, 2003) - The North Park University women's soccer team
posted a 6-0 win over non-league opponent Rockford College on Monday
afternoon as Angela Zirk and Melanie Morgan scored two goals each.
Abbie Frank and Sarah Stiles also had goals for the home team, which moved
to 5-7-2 overall. Sarah Primozic recorded the shutout in goal as the
Vikings dominated play against the Regents.
After a tough early season schedule in which the Vikings lost five games to
nationally or regionally ranked opponents, North Park has gone unbeaten in
four of its last five contests. The Vikings play in Rock Island at 4 p.m.
on Friday against College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin opponent
Augustana College.
Hours after the women's team beat Rockford, the men did likewise, scoring
all of their goals in a six-minute span during the first half to key a 3-0
victory. Isaac Lee had two goals and assisted on a rally by Adam Johnson as
coach John Born's team moved to 10-1-2 and won their seventh straight
contest.
North Park's men are now ranked eighth in Division III soccer's Central
Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The Vikings
play at Augustana in a 7:30 p.m. conference game on Friday.
