North Central Defeated by Vikings

NAPERVILLE, IL (September 25, 2003) - Adam Johnson and Matt Moncada scored goals for North Park University (NPU) as the visitors beat North Central College 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon in their College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) men's soccer opener.

Johnson opened the scoring with a goal just nine minutes into the game. Moncada tallied the insurance goal with an assist by Isaac Lee with just over three minutes remaining. Goalie Matt Evans notched his fourth shutout as the Vikings moved to 5-1-2 on the season. North Central fell to 1-6-1, 0-3 in the CCIW, despite nine saves from goalie Justin Reckamp.

NPU's men play a 3 p.m. CCIW home match against Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday. The women's team plays at noon against the Titans on the same field. They lost a 7-0 non-CCIW women's soccer game at the University of Chicago on Wednesday as the home team benefited from Renee Neuner's three goals.
