Rockford Church Host Alley Walk for Missions
ROCKFORD, IL (September 6, 2003) - Bethesda Evangelical Covenant Church will host its 21st annual Alley Walk from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on September 20th.The free event will be held on the grounds adjacent to the church in the 2100 block of East State Street in Rockford - neighborhood garages are used to sell used items and antiques, among other things.
More than 80 crafters are signed up for the Alley Walk and seven food vendors serving hot dogs, donuts and other treats, along with entertainment and children's games. WQFL-FM radio's "Breakfast Bus" will be on church grounds from 1 to 3 p.m. that afternoon. The Christian radio station is based in nearby Loves Park.
Proceeds are primarily used for various mission projects and individuals that the church supports.
The church has some parking available at its facility, with additional parking at the Rockford Plaza parking lot near the local Salvation Army Building on the corner of Rockford Avenue and Charles Street. A shuttle will run throughout the day from that lot to the Alley Walk.
Bethesda Covenant Church was formed in 1926 and moved into its present facility in 1928. David Lindfors is the pastor the church, which has an average worship attendance of over 300. Hiland Hill Preschool, located at the church, recently celebrated 26 years of work in the community. Recent innovations in the church's programming include a skate park summer ministry.
