Quilt Auction Raises $17,000 for Covenant Point

Iron River, MI (August 21, 2003) - Covenant Point Bible Camp raised more than $17,000 at its first-ever quilt auction, held at the camp Aug. 16. Eighty-six registered bidders purchased 103 pieces, including bedcovers, wall-hangings, baby quilts, and other quilted items. Online bidders (photos of several of the pieces were posted on the camp's website) also participated in the live auction via proxy.

Quilt Auction Several quilts sold for hundreds of dollars, and one antique quilt was sold to a dealer for more than $1,000. Barbara Nicholson, the lead organizer of the auction, finished many of the donated quilt tops and pieces herself.

The local auctioneer donated his time, and all the auction entries were donated. Proceeds from the event will be used to furnish the camp's new nature and outdoor education building.
