North Park University Hires Old Testament Professor
CHICAGO, IL (July 23, 2003) -
North Park University (NPU) announced that
Rajkumar Boaz Johnson, president of the Quest Center for Christianity
and Culture and senior pastor of Quest International Church in
Naperville, Illinois, will join the school's faculty this fall as
professor of Old Testament studies.
Johnson earned a doctorate in theological studies and Hebrew Bible from
Trinity International University and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School
in Deerfield, Illinois. His dissertation was focused upon Theological
Conception of the Land, Creation of the Land, and Intertextuality, with
Reference to Select Jewish Texts of Late Antiquity. He also has a master
of theology degree in Old Testament and Semitic languages from Trinity
Evangelical Divinity School, a master of divinity from Union Biblical
Seminary in Pune, India, and a bachelor of arts from Hans Raj College,
University of Delhi in India.
Before coming to North Park, Johnson taught religion at the College of
DuPage in
Lombard, Illinois, and also taught at Fuller Theological Seminary in
Pasadena, California.
He will become honorary senior pastor at Quest International Church upon
assuming his new position at North Park.
Johnson was trained in a radical Hindu grammar school but became a
Christian in high school after he was given a copy of the Gospel of
John. He was ordained by the Christian and Missionary Alliance and the
Delhi Bible Fellowship, the Evangelical Alliance Mission (India). His
ministry experience included church planting in India and parachurch
work with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship.
Johnson is also president of Tsemakh Institute for the Study of Judaism
and Christianity, where he develops courses for colleges, universities,
seminaries, and churches dealing with postmodern and ancient
philosophies and apologetics and theology. He has also been a sought
after speaker, having given many papers and seminars throughout the world.
