CIPE Bible School Begins

QUITO, ECUADOR (July 14, 2003) - A total of 21 students from seven countries are studying at the CIPE (Confederation of Latin American Covenant Churches) Bible School, which runs from July 6 to August 17.

Students and faculty hail from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Spain and the United States, said representative Pablo Velasquez. The purpose of the six-week school is to provide training in five areas, including:

  • Spiritual growth
  • Bible and theological knowledge
  • Personal and leadership development
  • Training to work in the local church
  • Christian service

Following a July 6 church service at the 4,000 member Holy Trinity Covenant Church (Santisima Trinidad), the group went to the Mitad del Mundo, a monument that marks the Equator. The festive inauguration of the Bible school took place later that afternoon. The Ezekiel Group from the Holy Trinity Church graced the occasion with folkloric music from Ecuador.
