NPU recently hosted the production of "The Longing," a play written by
Robert Hostetter, professor of Communication Arts and Theater at NPU. Based
on interviews with Palestinians, the play tells profound stories of
displacement and the desire for a just peace in that region. It has been
performed a total of 20 times in Chicago, Atlanta and other sites.
Sojourners ministries grew out of the Sojourners Community, an inner-city
neighborhood in Washington, D.C. Sojourners traces its roots back to
Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Illinois, in the early
1970s, when a handful of students began meeting to discuss the relationship
between their faith and political issues, particularly the Vietnam War. Its
co-founder is noted activist Jim Wallis.
For more information about colleges and universities highlighted for their
social awareness, log onto the Sojourners website at www.sojo.net.
