Care Fair to Benefit Ravenswood Child Center

CHICAGO, IL (May 22, 2003) - The second annual Ravenswood Community Care Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 7 in the parking lot of Ravenswood Evangelical Covenant Church, 4900 N. Damen Avenue in Chicago.

Nearly 20 skilled artisans will display their works, including paintings, weavings, stained glass creations and pottery. Children's activities will also be ongoing throughout the day and food items will be available for purchase, including coffee, baked goods and lunch items. Proceeds will benefit the Ravenswood Community Child Care Center, a not-for-profit center that has been in existence for one year.

Ravenswood Community Child Care Center was opened to address the need for childcare in the Ravenswood area, giving priority to teen parents who wish to continue attending Amundsen High School. The daycare center includes three daycare classrooms, a handicap-accessible bathroom, a modified kitchen facility and a play lot in the church's parking lot area. It can accommodate approximately 45 children, according to executive director Adrienne Edlen.

For more information about the June 7 event, call Edlen at 773-784-7091, extension 25.
